Luís Vaz de Camões: it is important to learn about and reflect on the work of this significant writer and poet, as well as to revisit landmarks connected with him in the city of Lisbon, where he was born over five centuries ago.
At each stop of this private walking tour a poem or gloss by him will be read. Through his work and the places he frequented, we will witness Camões’ loves and heartbreaks, the poet’s life in the 15th-century court, the countless disputes and struggles until his departure for the East, where he wrote much of his major work: “The Lusiads.”

Meet your guide, Marisa Filipe
She has a degree in History – Cultural Heritage from the University of Évora, a postgraduate degree in Rehabilitation and Restoration from E.S.A.D and a Master’s in Development, Local Diversities and World Challenges from I.S.C.T.E. PhD candidate in British espionage in Lisbon during the Second World War, at I.S.C.T.E. As a guide, she has worked in the most diverse palaces and museums, from Mafra Palace to Ajuda Palace, Pena, Queluz, among others. She is passionate about the baroque and espionage in the 20th century.
