Our Journey in the City of Seven Hills
We are Marie-Claire and Jérôme, partners in life and work, and proud parents of a six-year-old boy. Our arrival in Lisbon in November 2021 was marked by a mix of excitement and curiosity. Coming from Geneva, a city known for its organisation and predictability, we found in Lisbon a vibrant energy and a rich culture that captured our hearts right away.
Lisbon’s culture, diverse and dynamic, drew us in from the start. Its museums, theatres, and cultural events have given us countless enriching experiences and enjoyable family moments.
On 23 September 2023, we were taking a family stroll in Belém when we noticed the vintage trams passing by. Families on board, all smiles, waved at us as they went by. My partner and I exchanged a look, as if asking, “How did we not know about this event?” Perhaps I hadn’t checked the Lisbon cultural calendar at the right time… Maybe I should have signed up for the Carris Museum newsletter… Since then, I discovered that most communication about such events is done on the buses and trams themselves! But if, like me, you rarely or never use public transport, there’s a good chance you’ll miss out on these and other activities.
It was in this context that the idea for Lisboa Events was born — a newsletter designed for parents and families who, like us, want to make the most of what the city has to offer.
We believe that culture, art, and sport are fundamental pillars in a child’s development and that Lisbon provides unique opportunities for this growth. With its distinctive light and captivating atmosphere, the city inspires us every day. Its blend of tradition and modernity is reflected in our work, driving us to explore and share every corner, every event, every story that can enhance the experiences of the families who follow us.
In short, our relationship with Lisbon is one of deep admiration and gratitude. The city has not only welcomed us as residents but has also provided us with the inspiration and motivation to create a project that reflects our love for culture and for sharing family experiences in this wonderful city.
Lisbon has become our adopted home — a place where we harmoniously blend family life and professional projects, always inspired by the energy and beauty of this unique city.
