Lisboa em Nós de MOAMI

Lisbon in Us by MOAMI

Today our guest is an urban artist who marked us, particularly, with her kindness. In Lisbon in Us by MOAMI, this creator of enchanted dreams shares with us her feelings for the city and her perspective in these very peculiar times.

My relationship with the city of Lisbon is one of passion… and maybe that’s one of the infinite reasons for my constant artistic creativity.

Before the pandemic I spent a few hours of my day per week wandering and walking around the city and I can say that although I know the city, there’s always so much to discover.

The sunrise and sunset have a unique charm but I can’t explain it in words as they’re something that has to be seen, appreciated and felt by each  individual person who wants to spend a few minutes of their time.

In these days, months and year of confinement seeing the city was different. It still has the same light but it’s no longer as bright and vibrant as before. I feel that it has aged a little more as it was forced to stop “living” the noises of other times.

It no longer has that TOUCH, Ladra Lisbon’s Flea Market isn’t as “Ladra” as before, Adamastor (Santa Catarina Viewpoint) still has its beautiful sunset but the frantic movement of the people is slow, the Bica [neighbourhood] is just “Biquinha” (diminutive of Bica), Rossio is now “Rossiozinho” (diminutive of Rossio) and only a Ginjinha (Portuguese liqueur) brings joy to those who dare to stop for another drink.

The [Liberdade] Avenue that used to be so rich in shops, is now poorer with less people… My Lisbon of other times is now GREY with sadder people who don’t have the time to appreciate how beautiful and wonderful the city is even when it’s on hold.…

Maybe that’s really one of the infinite reasons for my constant artistic creativity. Lisboeta (people of Lisbon) by heart and soul but not by birth.
